COVID-19 India
Lockdown has put millions of poor at risk.
The pandemic of COVID-19 has engulfed the entire world and has posed serious challenges for the health and economic security of millions of people worldwide. In India too, a country of 1.3 billion people, the spread of coronavirus has been alarming and is posing severe health and economic ramifications for the country. On 24 March 2020, the Prime Minister of India announced a 21-day nationwide lockdown: “In order to protect the country, and each of its citizens, from midnight tonight, a complete ban is being imposed on people from stepping out of their homes."

"India stands at an important turning point in its fight against COVID-19. Extraordinary situations demand extraordinary measures. The Prime Minister has taken bold and decisive steps to break the chain of transmission. It is equally vital that this window is used for further ramping up measures to find, isolate, test, treat and trace. WHO stands together in solidarity with India and its people and is committed to providing all the support that is needed," says Dr Henk Bekedam, WHO Representative to India.

Though the government is trying their best, the resources may not still be enough. Lack of food, shelter and medical facilities will put millions of poor at huge risk. In view of this the 'One Less Beer' team has planned to focus on getting donations to fund the relief providing organizations working in India.

At 'One Less Beer' we wish to keep the idea simple. You donot need to sacrifice much. A donation worth as low as that of a glass of beer at your local pub is enough to feed a child in India all lunch and dinner for an entire month. So please click on the 'Donate' button below and join us to fight against the pandemic. In general, 'One Less Beer' works for causes like 'Health', 'Hunger', 'Special Needs' etc. However if you want your donation to be used exclusively for this pandemic, please select the 'cause' as 'Corona crisis' in the donation form.
